Ascended from the West over Carn Dearg and Carn Tarsuinn with rugged terrain throughout. Intermittent cloud but superb views in all directions of distant snowy mountains.

Wet and windy day with frequent low cloud. Watched big slabs of ice breaking up and getting washed under the bridge and downriver towards Loch Garry.

Walked in past the cottage at Lochivraon and returned via the ENE ridge. Superb views of adjacent snow-topped Munros.

Bright sunny day but windy. Brief cloud and light snow around the summit where a small Brocken Spectre was observed. Visited the site of an Iron Age wheel-house and a more recent oblong structure on the return.

Fuar Tholl.

 

 

Beautiful sunny day with fresh snow on the high tops. Stunning scenery throughout. Approached Creag Mainnrichean from the west but aborted due to tricky conditions underfoot.

Pleasant sunny day. Interesting hill with views of Ben Alder and the more distant mountains surrounding Rannoch Moor.

Long slog with snow all the way and a lengthy darkness finish. Windy but otherwise nice weather. Excellent view of the snowy frontal crags of Sgňr Gaoith.

Ascended from Ardessie via the southern outlier Ruigh Mheallain. Intermittent cloud but good views of the An Teallach range and coastal scenery. Spectacular waterfalls visited whilst descending the west bank of the Ardessie Burn.

Breezy day, some light drizzle but mainly sunny. Pleasant walk in spite of industrial mine workings. Saw a pair of eagles and two relatively tame mountain hares. Good view of Schiehallion and Glen Lyon Munros.

Superb walk. Dull day but good visibility and excellent scenery. Visited the ruins on Creach Bheinn, believed to be a look-out camp from the Napoleonic wars. Found wreckage of a USAF Voodoo fighter-bomber on Maol Odhar.

Wild day with high winds, rain, and brief interludes of snow, sleet and hail. Misty views of the impressive hills around the west end of Loch Arkaig.

Superb walk on a lovely sunny day. Visited the lesser top of Creagan Meall Horn to view Foinaven. Descended via Creachan Thormaid where a number of dotterel were encountered.

Ascended over Beinn Odhar Mhor. Rain and cloud earlier but cleared late afternoon to give pleasant conditions. Excellent walk over rugged terrain.

Very scenic walk up Glen Almond from Newton Bridge in the Sma’ Glen. Varied the return by descending into Coire Chultrain. Saw eagles and mountain hares.

Occasional rain but very pleasant walk with excellent views of surrounding Glen Lyon mountains. Descended south towards Gallin and returned via the road.

Calm sunny day. Climbed Beinn an Tuim and followed the ridge to Streap; continuing over Streap Comhlaidh on the descent. Excellent view along Loch Shiel early on. Superb mountainous scenery throughout the day. Rugged terrain.

Ruadh-stac Beag & Meall a’ Ghiubhais.

Hot sunny day. Route included a circuit of the Beinn Eighe Woodland Trail. Spectacular scenery including a 180° panorama of the northern face of Beinn Eighe.

In July 2011 Beinn a’ Chlaidheimh was re-surveyed and found to be below the Munro height threshold. Following confirmation by the Ordnance Survey and the SMC it will be re-classified as a Corbett. There are now 282 Munros and 222 Corbetts. At this point in the list the Munro and Corbett count are therefore adjusted accordingly (M274 & C98).

Ascended via the Ling Hut and descended past Coulin Lodge. Wet and windy with intermittent cloud cover. Enjoyable walk over rugged terrain. Vicinity of Lochan Uaine particularly striking for its remote and mountainous feel.

Very pleasant walk with easy going to the north-western tops and rougher terrain towards the summit. Warm sunny day with all surrounding hills eventually clear of cloud. Superb mountain scenery including the Torridon and Achnashellach ranges.

Ascended from Innerwick. Mostly sunny day with occasional cloud on the surrounding higher tops. Excellent close-up views of the Lawers, Tarmachan and Carn Mairg ranges. Interesting return through Gleann Da-Eig passing numerous ruinous shieling and township dwellings.

Sunny day, very breezy with a couple of light showers. Occasional thick cloud on the higher neighbouring summits. Good view of some of the Glen Nevis, Glencoe and Ballachulish hills. Accessed from Callert.

Low cloud restricted visibility but interesting walk with roaring stags audible throughout. Open hill terminated in a short but surprisingly narrow summit ridge.

An Stac approach.

 

 

Walked in from Inverailort to climb An Stac but aborted due to illness. Rain and varying cloud cover but superb scenery in Coire a’ Bhuiridh. Stags roaring.

Suitably short walk for a very wet and windy day. Followed the ridge to Creag Ard with low cloud restricting visibility. Visited the church at Innerwick.

Really nice day with superb scenery. Saw several stags down at road level and a radio amateur with transceiver and aerial at the summit. Very rugged mountainous terrain around the head of Glen Kingie.

Superb walk: Highland Perthshire in Autumn sunshine. Approached from Glen Lochay with a darkness finish. Good visibility throughout the day.

3rd December

Strathconon: circuit of stalker’s paths.

 

 

Road along Loch Beannacharain to Inverchoran, up Gleann Chorainn and into Coire Mhadaidh, descending into Coire Mhoraigein, returning via Corriefeol and Scardroy. Wind and snow. Good view of Strathfarrar Munro group.

17th December

Clear winter’s day with snow at all levels. Ascended the west top via the stalker’s path. Didn’t continue to main top due to lack of daylight.

30th December

Glenmore Forest Park.

 

 

Circular walk including Eag a’ Chait, Rothiemurchus Lodge and Loch Morlich.
